Bore size, rare of twist, patching material for round ball, powder type, lube for your bullet/patches. all of these things will affect accuracy and the type of powder you use and the best charge to use.

The patent breech in percussion guns is safer and easier to clean. Drum and nipple breeches are manure from several perspectives. Most modern patent breeches on the factory made guns are designed to be cheap to make and install. I believe the Nock antechamber breech gives better velocity but experience is limited.

I found that when shooting with a nitro card I was getting a donut pattern, though the standard Skychief load still significantly reduced pattern size.
