Первоначальное музыкальное образование получил у матери и уже в десятилетнем возрасте выступил публично как пианист и композитор. В 1899 Барток поступил в Королевскую Венгерскую музыкальную академию в Будапеште, где занимался по классу фортепиано у И.Томана и композиции у Г.Кеслера. Первые же самостоятельные сочинениях Бартока, написанные вскоре после окончания им Академии в 1903, отличаются ярким национальным колоритом. Тогда же композитор начал собирать и изучать фольклор народов Центральной Европы и вскоре стал крупнейшим специалистом в этих вопросах. Some of his work has appeared on recordings, and he was clearly an interesting composer of well-crafted, entertaining music. But now that a singer with the stature and prodigious gifts of Cecilia Bartoli has undertaken an entire CD of his opera arias, he may just become a quasi-household name. Here he proves himself a composer who wrote for virtuosos; Bartoli is nothing if not a vituoso. And, indeed, this CD opens with an impressive bang: An aria from La secchia rapita features a wild vocal line complete with wild coloratura, huge leaps, a range from low G to high D flat (Bartoli flirts more and more with the soprano range while using her chest register even more forcefully!), and vast dynamic changes accompanied by a full orchestra augmented with grand, martial trumpets. Other arias--one from Palmira, Regina di Persia, for example--are more introspective and are spun out with a graceful, seamless legato and seemingly endless pianissimo. Everything one loves about Bartoli is here: the intensity, absolute fluidity in execution, breath control, glorious trill, the ability to whisper or holler, and an identification with the character she's portraying which makes the situation credible and involving for the listener. At the same time, we can't overlook a tendency to overstatement and exaggeration and a breathiness to some of the delivery which can be an annoying mannerism. But where else can one get such excitement and commitment coupled with an irresistible charm in a singer so clearly at her peak? Most/all of the arias and operas here are virtually unknown; this CD whets our appetites for more Salieri. The accompaniments are as superbly thought-out and played as one would hope for--the wacky pizzicato strings and solo wind and brass lines in an aria from La Cifra, for instance, will delight. Очень оригинальная личность, Лигети во многом определил дальнейший путь развития Новой музыки; известно его влияние на таких композиторов как Шнитке, Денисов, на композиторов спектральной школы. В настоящий момент его можно с полным основанием поставить в ряд таких классиков, как Мессиан, Лютославский... Не все принимают произведения Лигети 80-90х годов. Многим показалось, что композитор изменил своему стилю, повернул назад и стал более эклектичным. Далеко не все принимают такие его сочинения, как например скрипичный концерт. Действительно - в этом произведении налицо имеющаяся пестрота и разностильность...но Лигети и тут остается оригинальным. При повторном вслушивании в музыку расскрывается весь смысл "смены дороги". Композитор просто продолжает искать новые дороги, он не хочет оставаться на прежних шаблонах. И это заслуживает по крайней мере уважения : не каждый композитор, когда ему за 60 может осмелиться пойти неизведанными и новыми для него самого путями. Таким образом - Лигети всю жизнь является композитором оригиналом, стремящийся избежать болезнь самоповтора и не боящийся пойти "наперерез" собственному стилю (обратите внимание на кавычки: мнимый перерез!!)...(]]>(ссылка)]]> 12 июня 2006 года композитор умер. ]]>ФТП]]> |

Problem is, their time is about to end, thanks to grim reaper Nekrotzar (played with deadpan grotesquerie by bass-baritone Willard White), who, aided by his bumbling servant Piet the Pot, has decided to lay waste to the world. Of course, nothing ever goes quite right. A pair of indistinguishable lovers (including the radiant mezzo of Charlotte Hellekant) sleeps right through the Armageddon, and the Great Macabre is reduced to asking himself, "Have I not just laid to waste the entire goddamned world?" in the hilarious final scene. Esa-Pekka Salonen's live recording zeroes in on the score's sardonic humor as well as its postmodern raidings. Compared to the first Macabre on disc--sung in German and not as compact as the revised, English version that Ligeti prepared for the 1997 Salzburg Festival revival--this one is the keeper, with better sound staging, wildly imaginative orchestrations, lucid program notes, and an enjoyably perky English rendition of the original text. Hearing all this perfect craziness--the townspeople mimicking a skipping record as they sing "Our Great Leader" in the third scene, the car horn prelude that leads off the production, the absurdist arguments of the Black and White Ministers--is a comic delight. Very few composers have written requiems and those that have can be counted with one's fingers. Perhaps even fewer conductors are able to properly direct a symphony and choir for such pieces. Out of all these requiems, there are really none that match Mozart's graceful and divine talent which, as Salieri mentioned in Amedeus, is nothing less than "The voice of God!" So profound is this work by Mozart that it would make the Devil want to go to Heaven so as to hear his divine genius direct a choir of angels for this piece in person. In terms of performances, I haven't found many that match Giulini's profound and serene interpretation: it is simply exquisite. Giulini, who died of old age recently, was one of the most accomplished musical conductors of the 20th century and was as great as Herbert Von Karajan. His collaborations with the divine diva Maria Callas are legendary. Giulini is a good choice for this composition because, although he comes from the old school like Karajan and Solti, his specialty was mostly opera with Italian or Catholic composers such as Mozart. He also completed this performance at an older age at a point when his musical talent had really ripened to interpret this piece. He puts in his 'Requiem' movement the right amount of grace and meter so that one can feel that this piece is a reckoning for one's Judgment Day where they will have to face the sum of their life and answer to God. In movements such as 'Dies Irae' you really feel divine wrath coming for the wicked. "Tuba Mirum" is nice interpretion here with bass/baritone. I didn't find this to be the best interpretation of 'Lacrimosa' but it wasn't bad either. The performance here for 'Benedictus' is simply the most divine interpretation I have ever heard for this piece. Giulini is generally slower in interpretation like most composers of his generation, but unlike his German trained counterparts however, he was well trained in Italian traditions especially liturgical works and, of course, opera. Giulini's opera background is even more evidence of his talent because opera directors and singers are usually not a good choice for a requiem or liturgical works in general. Opera techniques in music and singing emphasize on dramatism or comedy that are are too extreme for such a stoic and somber work. I was also somewhat disappointed with Marinner's performance and even more with Gardiner's as their interpretations are much too fast to the point that I feel like I'm listening to Mozart's 'Cosi Fan Tutti' as opposed to his Requiem. In comparison with German conductors of his generation, Giulini's interpretation has the light gallantry of Mozart as opposed to the weight of Wagner. It has enough speed to make you feel like your soul is gently rising to Heaven or falling into the pits of Hell which is what this piece is supposed to make you feel like. Giulini reached a perfect balance at interpreting the meter for this performance which is neither too slow or too fast. The choir and soloists are excellent and all performed extremely well. Corny covers, non-existent liner notes and generally only mediocre performances by its second tier soloists and conductors. The Sony Essential Classics series and the EMI Seraphim series have got it beaten hands down. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and this Mozart "Requiem" by Istvan Kertesz and the Vienna Philharmonic is one such case. While not the best in its price class -- that would be the Giulini on EMI Seraphim -- Kertesz's mid-60s performance is a close second and certainly better than both recent accounts featured in the Sony Essential Classics series. It's a tragedy that Kertesz died in 1973 -- drowning while swimming in the Mediterranean -- at the age of 43. While most conductors live to a ripe old age, too many others have been plucked from us in their prime -- Argenta, Cantelli, Fricsay, and Kertesz among them. А есть у кого-нибудь 5-я симфония Чайковского? В формате .mp3 у меня имеется, если не брезгуете (320 кб/с); если же нужно исключительно в Lossless (Audio CD), то придется подождать (если и у уважаемого Spooncan'a отсутствует) - будет лишь, к сожалению, при удачном стечении обстоятельств, через неделю.
